Our friend Sean came to visit us from D.C. and we spent a weekend over on St. John camping, beaching, and hiking. We did the Reef Bay Trail which is a nice walk down to the beach a little over 2 miles down. The way up was of course much harder because it was so hot. We were actually glad that it was overcast and a bit rainy to keep it somewhat cooler. The trail passes through an old sugar and rum mill and plantation ruins. Really cool old brick buildings. Inside there were hundreds of hermit crabs and Tim spotted out all of the bats hanging from the ceiling!!! Of course I wasn't as happy to be inside when I found that out, but I did manage to get a good picture of them. We also stopped off at a huge waterfall and got to see the famous St. John petroglyphs. Such a great day!
