Jost van Dyke, BVI Weekend Getaway!

A couple months ago we won a one night stay at the SandCastle Hotel in Jost van Dyke! We took the ferry over to the British Virgin Island and checked into a lovely cottage right on the beach! I mean it was so pretty and something people book for a honeymooon. We felt really lucky. We spent the day enjoying the beach and the Famous Soggy Dollar painkillers. It is a great drink with rum, coconut, orange, and pinapple juice with fresh nutmeg on top. The place gets it name because the beach is popular with day trippers. Lots of people come to visit it by boat and anchor out in the sand in the water, so they have to swim in to get on the beach and to the bar, hence a lot of soggy dollars to buy a painkiller.

Check out the cottage pictures. The shower is outside! Probably the strangest shower ever, but actually pretty neat. I was a little cool though in the morning with the breeze. I wonder why they set it up that way? It was an interesting experience.

We made a weekend out of it and the next night we camped at Ivan's. We camped there on New Years Eve and knew how much we liked it! This is one camping spot I do not complain about. You sleep on the white sand and can hear the waves crashing on the beach. So peaceful!
